I have had this question asked of me many times, sometimes even twice by the same person.  Online Dating is one of those hit or miss things, and its something that you have to work to perfect.  There is a certain amount of work that has to be put into the cyber date before it can be a successfull situation.  I mean not everyone has the same issues, what may work for one will not work for the other. 

To have a successfull experience at the online dating game you have to rememeber that its very important to have a good profile up there.  It may have to be tweaked from time to time, and you may have to do a few things to it before it becomes perfect.  Also there is  lot to be said for the picture that is put up as your online dating profile.  Remember a picture is worth a thousand words, and a first impression always counts, so make sure that you put your best foot forward otherwise you will also limit the number of potential mates that contact you.

Also something huge to consider is what site you are choosing.  You can cycle through a number of different sites before you find exactly what it is you are looking for.  Rememeber the sites out there are tailored to different needs and they all look to fill different markets, which is why you cant give up after the first one or think you have found ultimate success.  Even if you try one out for a few days and it doesnt work, doesnt mean that it wont work, or that it will.  These things need to be tested and worked on to see if you can really find what your looking for in your quest for online dating.

There are two very important things when cyber dating or online dating.  The first thing is to choose the right online dating site that features the most partners in your area.  Remember there are a lot of scams with online dating sites, but the majority of them definatly work.  Remember to look for the popular and well reviewed dating sites.  Ok now the second thing once you have choosen the right online dating site is make sure you have a great profile.  Your profile is like your dating resume, you need this to get your foot in the door to any potential matches.  Without a good profile you’ll get passed over by most of your matches just like you would a job if you had a bad resume.

 There are three particularly important things when building your dating profile.

1.  Avoid being negative - Negativety on an online dating profile or even out on a date is a No No.  Rememeber when putting your profile out there that you always want to put your best foot forward.  Starting things off with being negative on paper, will lead you to be negative in your everyday life, and that will show to the people that would potentially meet you.  In out lives we generally avoid negative people for the simple reason that they put us in a bad mood, and incedently make us negative.  So you will notice that people will use negative words as a trigger and just avoid your profile all toghether.

2. Try and be unique - Being a unique person is always heavily valued.  People get bored with the same profiles and the same things to read all the time.  Again its like the resume.  If you get 100 resumes, and their all the same, your just going to quickly skip from one to the next, but if you get one that differentiates itself, you will at least stop and take a look.  That pretty much all you can ask for is that the person stops and looks at your profile.  Thats the point of getting your foot through the door, and the rest of the decision is left to the other person, but at least your giving them reason to stop and take a look.

3.  Narrow down the results - Most dating sites will get you a ton of hits, from people that want to meet you.  The point of your profile is to get the best responses possible.  If you target your profile, you will also be targeting and filtering the people you are looking to meet.  This can be a great tool to meeting the girl or guy that you are really looking to meet.  If you yourself get to many matches and your having to filter out the people you dont want, you could wind up missing the right person as well.

So get out there and start meeting some people and get your profile out right.

When many people think about online dating, there is a huge misconception.  Everyone thinks that online dating sites are bad, becasue you have to shell out some initial cash for them.  They may not be seeing the big picture in all this, that online dating sites, or cyber dating is fairly cheap when you put it up against the obvious alternative.  Let me paint you a picture from my personal life.

 I was 21 and had asked this young lady out for the evening, now im not old, but at that time, going out on a date usually involved dinner and a movie.  When you are that age, money doesnt seem to be an object for you, and your number one goal is to impress the young lady your with.  I think I can speak for most men, when I say that we like our ladies to think we have a lot of money, and the image of wealth doesnt come cheap.  Or as cheap as you may think.  Anyways, it started off with me picking her up at her place and that started with me driving the car over there.  I must have spent at least $10 dollars in gas the whole night.  I know what many of you are thinking, that Mr Cheap is giving advice.  Well stay tuned because right after that we headed to a movie where I paid for the movie and some popcorn to share of course, we all know why, ladies you to.  Ok right there that was $25 dollars so we’re already up to to $35.  Then we went out for an average dinner nothing to extravegant.  I mean two meals, desert and two drinks…Another $50 dollars gone , well you can do that math and figure out that just one date with this girl cost me $85 dollars, and guess what I didnt really want to call her back after the first date. 

 There are many websites out there for you to choose from and all have different rate packages, but let me tell you even $50 a month is well worth it for the variety of ladies or men that you get to meet.  Match.com even gives you a free trial of their site.  So think about it people $85 for a wasted effort, or $50 for tons of chances and tons of meetings.  You decide, but online dating is the clear winner here.

Dating life is a great life, I mean dont think I have given to much insight into my personal life, I have told you that I started to date using online dating a number of years ago.  What I didnt tell you is where I am at in my life right now.  I am still single and am still online dating.  Its not been becasue I havent been able to find anyone, but its just the volume of woman that Im able to meet.  Cyber dating is an amazing way to meet so many woman.  I am currently seeing a young lady, but it hasnt turned into anything serious.  At least not to me it hasnt yet.

 Thats one of the biggest advantages to dating online is that you can easily meet hundreds of woman and have the choices that you really want to have.  If you are someone who is out there looking for woman, a bar may be some place that you can meet one or two.  Who knows most nights you go home empty handed becasue really your probably much to nervous.  Cyber Dating allows you to broaden you horizon, and in the process make a number of great friends while trying to find that significant other.

There are definatly some guidelines to follow whether you are dating live or going for the online version which as you know by now I highly recommend.  But like in everything to have a little fun you also have to be very selective.

The 1st rule to online dating or cyber dating is to be very selective of the service you are choosing.  Im going suggest to people here as a personal favorite.  Match.com offers you a 72 hour free trial to checkout their services and see if you like them.  Im advocating this becasue I think the people that offer the free trials are always the best to see if there are even a couple of matches out there for you.

The second rule is to always practice safe online dating strategies.  I mean we’ve been over this one before a couple of times in the previous columns.  Make sure that there isnt to much information listed, but also current information.  Also make sure that you always verify and get up to date and correct information.

The third one is to make sure that you have a great picture profile.  Lets face it and be honest here, people notice good looking people.  Thats the initial importance of a good picture.  Im not saying that this is all that matters, but in online dating a first impression means a hell of a lot becasue you dont have the first initial chance to chat up a girl or guy and show them your charming side.  Its usually all done initially from a picture.  A little shallow maybee, but hey we all do it in our everyday lives.

One last one is to avoid lying.  You always want to avoid lying on your dating profile as well as when your striking up a conversation with someone.  Who knows it may turn out to be something serious, and the worst thing you could have done is start things off by lying.  So be honest be truthfull, and pretty much act like yourself, as if you were initially meeting that person live, because it sucks when you do meet them and are expecting something different.

Rememeber online dating should be fun, and you should enjoy and embrace the people you meet.

I recently got an email from a gentelman that had been reading the blog about the online dating scene.  He wanted to thank me for helping other people not sure of the online dating scene getting going.  He mentioned in his email that he also tried online dating much like I had mentioned here before, and it was a wonderfully good situation and he is now married to young lady that he happened to meet online.

There are two types of people looking for dating sites online.  The first type is the person that is just pretty much looking to get laid.  There are certain types of websites that are known for this sort of thing, and both parties know what they are getting into when they visit a certain site.  The site that gets the most attention when looking at dating sites online is the famous Adult Friend Finder.  Adult Friend Finder has been the premier adult dating site online for the last 5 years, but when people go to the site they know the reason they are going there. 

 The other type of site is for people that are more looking for a long term relationship, like match.com or lavalife.  These sites are very well known at typical dating sites that try and match two people together in a long term relationship.  I have been on both sites, and have tried both sites, and can verify that they do work as I have described above.

When looking to go onto the internet, and decide to do the whole online dating thing, you have to be fully prepared for what you are getting into.  Rememebr the online dating scene is one that works on trust.  When you sign up for any of these websites its always best practice to put your real profile on their including your pictures.  Remember at the end of the day its all online and you have the choice whether to move forward with the relationship or not. 

When I first started the online dating thing, I decided that I was going to somewhat shelter myself of the start, and not put up my real profile information, such as my pictures, real name or my job.  I attracted a lot of attention from the opposite sex based on the information that I had put up on my online profile.  What didnt cross my mind at that time, was the possibility of the person on the other end also doing the same thing to shelter themselves and also attract me.  Which is as dumb as it sounds, what happened to me.  We both met with lots of expectations, and quite frankly were a little dissapointed with each other.  After that experience I had decided that from here forward, I was going to be fully forthcoming and honest with my online dating profile, and havent looked back since.  Since I did that I found that the woman I was meeting were also very truthfull with their profiles, and we seemed to attract the honesty in each other.  Something about you when your lying connects you to another lying party.  So let your guard down, get online put up your real profile, and start online dating.  A great place to try it out is at Fling!

One of the best things about the whole online dating scene is that it is not just restricted to your location.  I have met so many nice people online dating in so many parts of the world.  I recently took a trip over to Miami with some friends of mine, and before I had gotten there, I made the necessary arrangements to meet a very nice young lady there.  We met through the online dating service, and then started to chat it up.  It seems that we had a great deal in common, when we did hook up in person it was great.  We went out a couple of times and still today remain very good friends.  The internet spans so many countries across the world, that it is a great place to find people to date even when travelling to different parts of the world.  Its great to have all that company no matter where you are going in the world.  Needless to say a number of my friends were very jealous when they saw her.  I of course was not surprised as I had seen her pictures ahead of time.

 Online dating or cyber dating can be a great method to pad your dating card when you are at home or far away from home and just looking to have a really good time with the opposite sex.  Another added benefir is that you have people to hang out it wherever your going.  Cyber dating has been such a great experience for me, and I strongly urge you to give it a go.

Dating in today’s world has taken on a whole new meaning in life.  Its not the old, meet a really nice girl, take her out for an evening, walk her to her door, get a nice kiss good night, and then decide whether to call her again or not.  No dating in todays world is far more complicated than that.  Why?  Well we are a lot busier than we used to be.  I found a really great site where I put my profile on.  Fling.com is an amazing dating site that really helped me get my dating back on track, after all its all about meeting the right person, and how is that ever going to happen if you have trouble getting away from your worldy commitements.

Find Your Date Online Today!

The last post I made dealt with how hard it is to meet someone in today’s world.  I work a very hard stressfull job, and for me I cant just get out and meet whoever I want.  The other thing is thats its always been a little difficult for me to go up to a beautifull woman out of the blue, and start up a conversation with her.

Online dating has been a great way for me to get to know someone before going through all the uncomfertable getting to know you stuff meeting women in a bar, or wherever else you would go.

 I find one of the things that I really enjoy doing is going online, and first having a conversation with a number of different women, to see where our interests are compatible, and where we would match.  I mean I dont want to start dating someone who is into clubbing, and late nights, if I am more into coffee and a movie for example.  This is a grat way to match yourself to someone else online.  Another great thing is its not a blind date either becasue you get to find out a lot of information about the person that you are going to hook up with.  The biggest thing is that you get to see the persons picture online to find out if your looks match.  It pretty much brings all the same things as meeting someone to an online dating forum that you can be comfertable and be yourself.  It truly for me has been so much better going about looking for dates online rather than trying to go through the hassle of picking up ladies in a bar or somewhere else. 

A number of my friends have also started to put their profiles online to find online dates after seeing the levels of success that I have had, and the level of comfort I have just meeting people and communicating with them.  Seriously why stay at home because your shy or nervous.  Get on the internet and meet someone today.  You never know.
